Be the change you want to see.

Be the change you want to see. Owing to the political scenario in the country since the last few years, the saying seems to be completely apt. But who wants to be the change here? Where political thinkers are shunned, how can we expect someone to even try and make a change? We are desperately in need of a change. A change that had to be brought about years ago. A change that could do well for the country. In spite of knowing everything, knowing how messy the system is right now, it’s shocking how most of us can pretend to know nothing about it. It’s obvious that we all focus on our interests better, but presently; our interests should lie with our nation. Dirty politics, corruption, and poverty; is this why the people under the colonial rule had struggled so much? Is this why they had to sacrifice their lives? To see the country’s reins in such unstable and unworthy hands? I’m pretty sure that they’d be regretting it now. It seems as though a 10-headed monster is slowly tea...

Perfect, yet imperfect: The Indian Education System.

With each passing year, the number of students appearing for class X or class XII exams is constantly increasing. And though many come out with flying colors, there is very little that they actually know about their subjects. There are not one, but several loopholes in our education system, which are somehow hidden. Each student has their own special capabilities, which if nourished well, become an asset for the student. But this isn't as easy as it sounds. Students are forced to study all the mainstream subjects until grade 10, with the objective that the student will be able to decide what he wants to pursue in future. Even in this, there is a drawback. Every student might not have the same interest in all the subjects. And if there isn’t any interest, then there is no point in doing/learning it. Some students might excel in all the subjects, but then, everyone isn't the same. There are some who might be interested in sports rather than in studies, and some might be mor...

Silence Speaks.

Silence is golden, it is said, But isn’t it something that we dread? Silence is peace, it is said, But what if it leads to tears being shed? A feeling of anticipation, but never sure, Of agony and anguish, always pure. Of never ending doubt and remorse, Of discomfort and feelings terribly hoarse. It traps you in a dark thick fog, Sometimes drearier than a smog. Like a demon, on you it creeps, Sometimes intimidating, but silence speaks.

To all the teachers out there :)

You are our sunshine in the rain, And our light in the dark. It is through you, the knowledge we gain, That gives us a special journey to embark. You help us overcome all our obstacles, And within no time, our problems you tackle. You support us at every step, at every endeavor. Of our stupid talks, you get tired, never. A role model and an inspiration, You’re the one who lays our strong foundation.

The Nature.

My very first poem, when I was in class 8 :) Trees, Rivers, Oceans and Seas, who provides us with all of these? These are things which may never cease, but trespassers destroy them with real ease. Spring blossoms, winter flakes, Save the earth for our sake. Reduce, re-use recycle now, Save the earth somehow. Snowy white winters that melted into springs, now are just some imaginary things. All this might not forever last, but let us at least preserve the present, if not the past.

The Gentleman's Game.

Fixing probes, scams, match fixers and what not. So many diseases that have devastated the functioning of the game. A game that’d once bring pride and honor to our country, now comes as a disgrace. Cricket, which became famous throughout our country thanks to our colonial background, is being disturbed by incidents that we could never even think of. Once considered the game of the upper class, cricket gained recognition in our country, when the British Nobles started playing the game in India. It was said, that playing cricket made you superior to people of all masses. Soon enough, the British departed from India, and left back this exciting game for the people. India gained wide popularity around the globe thanks to its talented cricketers. But now, we’re being infamously touted as the ‘ match-fixing nation’ again, because of our players. Even though it is called the Gentleman’s game, it would be an inappropriate title for the game as of now. Marred by controversies an...
