Be the change you want to see.
Be the change you want to see. Owing to the political
scenario in the country since the last few years, the saying seems to be
completely apt. But who wants to be the change here? Where political thinkers
are shunned, how can we expect someone to even try and make a change?
We are desperately in need of a change. A change that had to
be brought about years ago. A change that could do well for the country.
In spite of knowing everything, knowing how messy the system
is right now, it’s shocking how most of us can pretend to know nothing about
it. It’s obvious that we all focus on our interests better, but presently; our
interests should lie with our nation.
Dirty politics, corruption, and poverty; is this why the
people under the colonial rule had struggled so much? Is this why they had to sacrifice
their lives? To see the country’s reins in such unstable and unworthy hands?
I’m pretty sure that they’d be regretting it now.
It seems as though a 10-headed monster is slowly tearing its
way into the soul of the nation. Not a
day passes by when we don’t hear about assaults and scandals across the
country. Though we pretend to be really sympathetic towards the situation of
the victims, deep inside, we don’t really care. And we will never learn to care
either. Indian values are said to be very influential. Of course they are even
now, but in a way we want them to be. Not how they are actually supposed to be.
Right now, our values are a mere mixture of our narrow and baseless thinking. Our
country was once revered for its traditions and values. And now, it is dreaded
for the same.
When something illegal happens in the country, we
immediately rush to blame the system. But what we don’t remember is that it is
us who created the system, and it is us who can destroy it too. Instead of
playing the blaming-game, let us try to bring about a change.
Politics in our country has not only affected the well being
of the people, but it has also affected our economy seriously. Trade links with
our country are being cut regularly now. And India’s importance in the economic
sphere is gradually lessening. The time when our country will be not be of much
economic importance is not far.
And regarding the people, the poverty ratio in rural areas
is still very high. Even though steps are being taken by the government, the
situation does not improve. That definitely means that there are loopholes in
our way of working which need to be mended seriously, or ultimately, we will
have to pay a huge price for it.
Corruption is something that is present in every sphere in
our lives. It all depends on how we act on it, whether we try to eradicate it,
or encourage it so that one day, it will penetrate so deep into our country,
that we will have no other option but to see our country getting destroyed.
We still have the time, we still have the power. Let us try
to do our bit rather than putting the future of our nation at stake.
