Seasons Of Love.

Eyes met, by the blazing sun. Sparks flew, by the chilling raindrops, Love froze, by the eloquent snowflakes, Trust;betrayed, by the autumn leaf.

Sealed With Love.

The incantation of the monosyllable Om reverberated through the room, as my Godfather sat in the far end, meditating peacefully. It was a bright Sunday. He was a Yoga teacher, so Sundays meant more Yoga classes. I tiptoed to the corner of the room, only to be stopped by one of his ‘guards’. “He has warned us against any disturbance. You can’t go in, child.” He said, in a pitiful tone. “Oh, fine.” I sighed, even though this was what I expected. Nevertheless, I decided to wait for him in the lounge. After an hour, which seemed more like hours, he entered the room, a grin plastered on his face. “Good morning!” he said, enthusiastically. “Morning.” “Why so grim? Breakup or something?” he said, with a boyish mirth to his voice. Tall, dark, and handsome; It looked as though this was said keeping him in mind. Nobody, even in their dreams, could predict his age. He had the physique of a 21-year-old, and the intellect of a 65-year-old. Though, his age was nowhere near to that. He ...

You and I.

You and I, Little specks of love, In this behemothic universe. You and I, Vaguely ceaseless, In this transient world. You and I, Our names etched forever. In the inscriptions of ageless love. You and I, Like the rivers and the ocean, Unlearning our identities, And merging into one. You and I, Like the missing pieces of a jigsaw, Coming together to complete the frame. You and I, Together forever, Cradled in the warmth of our love.

Together Forever.

The pages of my book fluttered incessantly, as I waited for my sister to try out ‘one last outfit’. Sigh, that’s what she said, at least. “How do I look?” she asked, as she exited the changing room, and grinned at her reflection in the mirror. “Great.” I said, not bothering to look up from the boring black and white flooring that I was currently staring at. My sister always looked pretty. “I think you should have a look,” she snapped. “Just once.” I decided to give up, and looked at her. I was awestruck. The red dress hung beautifully on her slender frame, and made her look even more beautiful. “It’s..it’s lovely!” I exclaimed. “I know.” She said, with a wink. “Can we go now? I need to prepare for the test.” I said, knowing that I’d have to do a lot of coaxing before we could finally leave. “Yes yes, I know about the test. Just a minute. Let me do the payment.” She said. Oh, that was easy! “I’ll get the car out.” I muttered. This was probably the most impo...

Shards

My solitaire glimmers in the dark, as we sit silently by the lake. My lips curl into a thankful smile, as your fingers brush against mine. You pull me into an embrace, as peace ripples within. Engulfed in the warmth of your love, my languid soul, now complete. The moon casts dancing shadows on your face, as my eyes glisten with tears. Reality is painful, is this a dream? Untamed thoughts, yet timid talks. Of blissful rainbows, and clear skies. Not of storms or hurricanes, raging furiously within. Not of the end of the forked road, but of the journey ahead. Whom are we trying to deceive? Is this what we'd vouched for? You were the dream I always dreamt. You were the reality I fantasized to face. You were the rhythm my heart beat to. You were the fresh air I wanted to breathe. And here you are now, a broken mirror. Your presence shattered like broken shards, in my seemingly languid life.

Parting of Ways

The grass crushed softly beneath our feet, as we made our way to the lake. It was our last evening together, and after 5 years of togetherness, we had finally decided to part ways. “Shall we take the longer route today,” he asked. I nodded in agreement, and continued along the rocky path. We walked in silence, occasionally broken by the chirp of a bird, or the rustle of fallen leaves. The lake was as serene and calm as ever and as we settled ourselves beneath the tree nearest to the bank, he began to throw stones into the lucid lake- an old habit of his. The stone sank with a soft plunk, and sent ripples all around, disturbing the calm of the lake; perfectly mirroring my inner feelings- calm, yet disturbed. “I'm gonna miss you,” he said. “Me too.” Not another word was spoken. My mind was buzzing with thoughts, as though waiting to empty itself to him and even in the silence it felt as though hundreds of words had been exchanged. “It’s getting dark. I g...

Sparks.

“The moon, it looks beautiful, doesn’t it?” “Of course it does.” She lowered her gaze to the reflection of the moon in the water. The water was faintly turbulent. It perfectly mirrored the turbulence inside her. “What is it that troubles you, Shweta?” he finally asked her. “It’s not working, Ayaan. Things are going wrong at office already. And it’s my only 3 rd month of service there.” Long held tears welled up in her eyes, as she narrated the day’s happenings to him. He listened to her with utmost patience, and never, even for once, let his eyes wander away from her beautiful face. “It’s going to be alright, trust me. I guess you should talk to your boss once. That might make things better. Give it a try.” He finally said, after minutes of silence. “I don’t want to take any risks. What if my colleagues stand against me? I wouldn’t be able to face everyone alone.” She sounded weak and helpless. Never had he seen her in such a state. They had gone through several ups ...

The Incomplete Soul.

He waited for his thoughts to settle, as he sat down to write an article for his newspaper daily. It was well past midnight, and also his ‘writing time.’ Solitude was his best friend, and loneliness, his estranged companion. He allowed his thoughts to wander away, despite knowing what their destination would be. They always settled on the same person, no matter how much he tried to mislead them. ______________________________________________________________________________ It had been 3 years since that fateful day.  “I’m nervous, Neil. What if your family doesn’t like me?” “You’re to get married to me, not my family. This meeting is just a formality.” He replied calmly. “Could you just try to divert my mind instead of offering me your expert advice?” “Well, okay. They’re going to like you, alright? I’m sure.” “But..” she was interrupted by him even before she could complete her sentence. “We’ve reached. Come on now!” he said excitedly. He opened the car door ...

Vengeance.

People said that love knew no boundaries. Is that why they were separated in the name of religion? People said that love could win over any force. Is that why they were denounced as traitors?   People said that everything was fair in love and war. Little did they both know that it was war. Them both, against the brutality of world. Little did they both know, that were mistaking Purgatory for paradise.   The world which never understood their love, the world which would never understand the reason why he took her life, and she took his. The world, which thought they were seeking vengeance against each other. Little the world know, that they were seeking vengeance against the world.
