The ‘Election Season’ has finally begun. With Parties taking on each other with their full-fledged campaigns, it is becoming increasingly tough for the public to elect their leaders. Reason? Their (wrong)doings. We hear about scams, and molestations by senior party leaders almost every day. This not only tarnishes their reputation, but also adds to the chaos on the political front. Every other party claims to be different from the others. But with time, they begin to show their true colors. These Parties claim to be varied in their ideologies and policies. But when it comes to implementation, they’re all the same. Despite having wealth, as well as followers, they fail to achieve their own set of goals. Even though we have parties with lots of money power, why is our pace of development slow as compared to other nations?  Why are we not steady economically? The election season has ‘almost’ begun, and as though a compulsion, ‘publicity stunts’ are also gaining momentum. Let us talk about a comment that a (so-called) politician made recently. He said that the Kargil War was won not because of the joint efforts of the army, but because of the Muslim soldiers, and that the Hindu soldiers have played no role in the massive win. Is this the least that our politicians can stoop to? Have our standards become so low? Segregating our army on the basis of religion is probably the worst possible form of polarism. The Indian Army was until now the only part of our ill-minded society which was kept away from religion-based differences. All that our Army does for us is collective effort. There was this man who people proclaimed to be the pioneer of change. A man who would bring change to the nation, a man who would uproot evil from the nation, a man who claimed to be one among us all, a man who claimed to be just another common man. We set our expectations high, and waited patiently.  We waited patiently for the beginning of the end. Little did we realize, that we must never keep our expectations high. Yes, he was just one among us all. He was just another person who promised change, but failed to deliver his promise. He came, he saw, he got frightened, he left.

Be the change you want to see. Owing to the political scenario in the country since the last few years, the saying seems to be completely apt. But who wants to be the change here? Where political thinkers are shunned, how can we expect someone to even try and make a change? We are desperately in need of a change. A change that had to be brought about years ago. A change that could do well for the country. In spite of knowing everything, knowing how messy the system is right now, it’s shocking how most of us can pretend to know nothing about it. It’s obvious that we all focus on our interests better, but presently; our interests should lie with our nation. Dirty politics, corruption, and poverty; is this why the people under the colonial rule had struggled so much? Is this why they had to sacrifice their lives? Cricket, which became famous throughout our country thanks to our colonial background, is being disturbed by incidents that we could never even think of. Once considered the game of the upper class, cricket gained recognition in our country, when the British Nobles started playing the game in India. It was said, that playing cricket made you superior to people of all masses. Soon enough, the British departed from India, and left back this exciting game for the people.
